"It was a very disappointing end to Wimbledon. I think I have quite a high threshold for pain and have got through quite a few matches when I wasn’t feeling well, but on Monday the pain was too much. I couldn’t carry on. "On the positive side, the injury isn’t very serious. Unfortunately I had to wait almost four hours to see a doctor, which was quite stressful because I didn’t know how serious it was. Luckily it’s just a small tear and I’ll be able to train again in a couple of weeks, maybe even sooner. I have to give Venus a lot of credit for her performance. She is an unbelievable player on grass. She moves so well and can hit very powerfully even if she is off-balance. I think it’s going to be very difficult for anyone to beat her, although Serena obviously has a chance. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it’s another Williams sisters final. Despite the way it ended, I have a lot of positives to take from this Wimbledon. Against Stosur I played one of my best matches of the year and I made some good progress with my new coaches from the adidas Player Development Programme. I’m excited about the rest of the season and, after a short holiday, I’m looking forward to getting back on court."
